How do I view my quarantined emails?

If Microsoft’s email filtering detects that a message is malicious, it is treated with more severity than a regular spam email and it is not sent to a user’s “junk” email folder in their mailbox; instead, the email message is quarantined.  Typically, you should not need to check your quarantine center, as wanted messages should not be directed to this location.

Messages matching Susquehanna’s global blocklist, messages with detected malware, or messages with a high-confidence level of suspected phishing will be administratively quarantined.  You will not be able to see these messages.  In the event that a message is marked as a false positive and is not delivered to you, you can submit an IT service request to helpdesk@susqu.edu.  Please provide the sender’s email address.  IT will confirm if the message has been blocked, release it, and updated the policy to allow future messages from that sender.

Messages that are detected with a medium or low-level confidence of suspected phishing will be delivered to a user quarantine center.  You may view your own quarantined messages of this type and release them from your quarantine.  Visit https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine and log in with your SU account.  Under “Email & Collaboration” > “Review,” you’ll see quarantined email messages.  Highlight the message and an information panel will open.  From there you can view the message, delete the message, or release the message for delivery to your inbox.  You should be highly suspicious of any messages in this area – in many cases they are phishing emails and are not actually from who they appear to be from.
