How do I request to have my class live streamed?
You may offer a 1-way or 2-way interactive hybrid or online traditional class via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, which is installed on every classroom computer. If a webcam is not already installed in the classroom, you can submit an IT request to have one delivered and hooked up in your requested classroom. If you need assistance with the equipment or conferencing software, please submit an IT request to schedule a training session with IT. If technical issues arise during your class, immediate classroom support is always available during the standard class schedule by calling x4502 from the classroom phone.
How do I request to have my small event live streamed or recorded?
Small events can often be streamed (and recorded) via Microsoft Teams or the Zoom Webinar feature, via standard webcam equipment. Please submit an IT request at least two business days before your event, so that we can ensure that you have the proper software and hardware in the location of your event. Keep in mind that this will be a “standard quality” video stream, from a webcam on a tripod, statically aimed (no panning/zooming in real time), with only ambient audio from the room. IT staffing is not available to attend the duration of your event to operate your camera equipment. IT staff is also not available outside of our standard office hours to assist with evening events; we would be happy to schedule a time to meet with you during office hours to offer training on the technology needed for your event.
Keep in mind that there are non-technical logistics to consider in live-streaming or recording your event. This includes official permission of your speaker(s)/presenter(s), and informed consent of audience members if they will be included in the broadcast/recording (such as a Q&A component).
How do I request to have my major event live streamed or recorded by a professional videographer?
If you are interested in having a professional videographer film your major events, such as those scheduled in our major performance/theatre venues, keep in mind that Susquehanna does not typically have staffing available in-house to accommodate this need. Professional videographers would be equipped with professional grade equipment, skillfully film your event – perhaps with multiple videographers and cameras, and may also perform post-filming editing production services. This operation involves planning for the equipment, skill, and staffing in advance. Typically, this also needs to be outsourced due to staffing limitations, so budget planning is also necessary. While Marketing & Communications does not offer full event capture in-house, they should be made aware of any major event recording or streaming and can also provide guidance in putting you in contact with an external provider you could hire for this need.
Again, keep in mind that there are non-technical logistics to consider in live-streaming or recording your event. This includes official permission of your speaker(s)/presenter(s), and informed consent of audience members if they will be included in the broadcast/recording (such as a Q&A component). Since major events often involve contracts with the speaker/talent, additional approvals are needed to verify that audio/video capture is contractually permitted.
